CFNR Won Third Place at the UPLB Faculty Follies
At least all our hard work paid off -- we won third place at the recently concluded faculty follies...plus our Lola Techie played by Ma'am Myrna won the Best Actress award. Super duper mega happy for the award, but happier that the practice and all the headaches of directing are over. Will try to upload the pictures, and if possible, the video later. And one very notable thing about our presentation -- super gwapo ni Dr. HayDEAN Khoruz...bagay na bagay ang colorful bandana at scarf hehehe!!! Hindi na nga nakasayaw kasi niyapos na ni "Katrina" hahahaha!!!

Totemo Isogashii Desu Ne!!!
It's been a long time since I last posted an entry in this blogsite. And of course, the reason is nothing else but the super hectic schedule that I have nowadays. Teaching for me is really a challenge, most especially because I don't really have a deep background on the subjects that I am teaching, and well, I must admit that "speaking" is not really my forte... But since I accepted the job, I have to deliver no matter what it takes. And that means reading a lot, taking time to understand the lessons that I'm gonna teach, thinking of a strategy on how to deliver the lecture, and the list goes on... Sometimes a 1.5-hour lecture would take me 2 days to prepare...
That's just the teaching part... I just realized recently that a teacher should also be a performer. With the many committee works assigned to me, particularly that of the faculty follies, I never imagined before that I would be teaching the dean, associate dean and other senior professors how to dance "Nobody" by the Wondergirls. A pretty tough job, but I also have to admit that it's something that I enjoy more..hehehe! Actually I'm beginning to realize that perhaps my title should not be "instructor", but more appropriately a "dance instructor".

UPLB Centennial Song
I attended the Loyalty day of UP Los Banos last Saturday. I can say that my attendance is quite compulsory as a new faculty member of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, and being the coordinator of the chant/cheering team. Otherwise, I would just completely ignore it and focus on other urgent matters, such as writing the book chapter on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation, which I've been working on for two weeks now and still not finished... sigh!
Nevertheless, despite the heat of the sun (but thanks anyway because the weather cooperated and it did not rain) and the exhaustion that I felt after all the cheering and chanting, I can say that it's quite a worth while experience, meeting with other alumni and participating in many events. The parade of the colleges was simply awesome headed by the execom and their musez and escorts. But what really caught my attention was the UPLB Centennial song. It was repeatedly played during the occasion, but I never got tired of listening to it. I simply fell in love with the song.
Below is the lyrics that I downloaded from the Imeem site, as well as the music video from YouTube:
ISANG DAAN(Marie Angelica Dayao)
(Repeat *)
Magbago man ang panahon
Pamantasan nati’y ‘di patatalo
Iskolar ng bayan noon at ngayon
Laging angat sa iba
Isang daan tungo sa karunungan
Isang daan tungo sa kagalingan
Isang daan tungo sa karunungan
Isang daan tungo sa kagalingan
(Repeat *)

Quotable Quote on my Birthday
"Never rush in love for it never runs out. Let love be the one to knock at your door, so by the time you start to fall, you know that your feeling is for sure."
Hmmm... let us see if this is true...hehehe!
Nevertheless, I feel soooo loved today with the birthday greetings and sweet messages that I received -- in particular, the card specially delivered by my youngest cousin very early in the morning with touching messages from my cousins and aunt, as if the dainty jewelry set given by the same aunt yesterday was not enough.
Thanks to my family, friends and loved ones for making this day so memorable -- even if I don't want to remember my age already. Haha!
Cheers!

I was so happy to see my twitter about the Noy-Mar tandem being retwitted (RT) by a certain "thinkistank". Felt that my opinion really counted, and happier even that it was shared to a greater audience. Hope it also reached Noy and Mar, or even their closest supporters, to let them know that indeed they're not alone in the "good vs. evil" fight... and the torch that they are carrying indeed brings GREAT HOPE among us, the common Filipinos. God bless you, and God bless the Philippines.

Sentimental Poems
Stanzas from the two poems I wrote more than a year ago...
Life can sometimes be lonely and sad
Especially when nostalgia visits you
Memories of people, places, things
Those you cherish and wish to go back to
They bring great pain and immense sorrow
but quickly vanish from thought in the distance of the past.

The comforts you brought are soothing
The love you gave intoxicates me
The joys that we shared seemed endless
So tell me, how can I leave thee?
...
So the time has come to hold you tightly
To bring you closer to my heart
To feel your firm embrace around me
As if you don’t want us to be apart.

To bring you closer to my heart
To feel your firm embrace around me
As if you don’t want us to be apart.

Sounds very sad. I think I should write happy poems now, or perhaps one that reflects the piling up of my workload reminding me to stop blogging already and attend to these NOW NA! Hmmm... not a bad idea.
A New Distraction
Friendster
MySpace
WAYN
Facebook
and now a blogspot!
I just created another distraction for myself...sigh! I wonder if this would help me finish my thesis and eventually graduate on time.
But well, now that I'm on board, let's see where to start. Hmmmm....
